Perry Canestrari is a Montreal-based tenor renowned for his unique fusion of classical and modern music. He's a seasoned professional with an impressive resume that spans various artistic mediums, from film and corporate events to solo performances and choir direction.
Canestrari's musical journey has been marked by a commitment to continuous learning and development, as evidenced by his dedication to ongoing training in various areas such as sales techniques, effective communication, time management, and team coordination. He is also a member of the S.O.C.A.N. (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada), highlighting his contributions to the music industry as a composer and performer.
His professional experience boasts a diverse array of collaborations, including notable appearances in films like "La Déroute" (1997) and "Space Travesty" (2001), as well as performances for prominent corporate clients like Bell Canada, Microsoft, the Bank of Montreal, and Visa. He has also performed for VIP clients including Bill Gates, Céline Dion, Jean Chrétien, and the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec.
Canestrari's musical talents extend beyond live performance. He has released 2 CDs with the Georges Fiori Orchestra and 1 CD with Luc Caron, showcasing his mastery of classical and modern music. His 4-album series, "Primo Tenore," "Ballades Vol. 1," "Noël," and "Music es Musica," demonstrate his versatility in blending classical and contemporary styles.
His orchestral experience includes being a soloist for both l'Ensemble Amati and IMusici of Montreal, further solidifying his reputation as a gifted and sought-after performer. He has also served as lead singer for the Georges Fiori Orchestra for over 12 years, showcasing his exceptional skills in ensemble work.
Canestrari's dedication to his craft is evident in his numerous awards and recognitions. He has won the prestigious "Best Original Composition and Vocal Performance" award at the Johnny Lombardi Canadian Italian Song Festival in Toronto an impressive five times, in 2003, 2004, 2006, 2011, and 2012. He also received an Honorable Mention for original song and rendition. Furthermore, he is the recipient of the Sergio Franchi Music Scholarship Fund in May 2002 and during 2004, and was awarded the 2nd Place World Title in the Interpretation category at the Sanremo Senior Song Festival in Italy in 2022.
Beyond his performance career, Canestrari has also demonstrated his leadership skills as Choir Director of La Clochette d'Or (C.R.A.I.C.) in Montreal, Quebec. He has been responsible for the establishment and implementation of all operational structures, the logistics organization and presentation of many concerts within the greater metropolitan area, and the management of church choirs.
In an exciting new development, Perry Canestrari has signed with PNP JAZZ Records to produce, distribute, and promote his music. He is currently in the planning stages of recording a new album featuring both original compositions and well-known hit covers, all performed with a full orchestra.
